Our son Dylan had Lego’s everywhere. If you opened his night stand drawer you found Lego’s. If you looked under his bed you would find more Lego’s. I wasn’t going to step on one more Lego so I immediately got to work.
I wanted to create a Lego table and found my Inspiration from Fussy Monkey Business. I spend a lot of time at our local thrift shops looking for whatever strikes me in need of a makeover. I added a table to my list and found this end table for only $3.99.
We loaded up the table and began sanding it down. I took Dylan to Home Depot to pick out the paint. He was having a hard time deciding between a red and blue shade but finally settled on this Candy Apple Red from Glidden.
I took measurements of the top of the end table and started the search for the perfect sized basket. We found the basket at Michaels and used a 40% Off coupon. I measured again and began cutting with my jigsaw. The easiest way to use a jigsaw on a project like this is to begin by drilling a hole where you want to begin cutting.
After making our cut to fit the basket I sanded the edges and it was time for our Candy Apple Red Paint. It took several coats but was well worth the work. I purchased a Lego Building Plate on Amazon in Gray and Dylan gathered all of his Lego’s to put in the basket.
This table is getting so much use and I’m happy to report that the Lego’s are finally staying where they belong. Although the girls have taken over with their Lego Friends. I’m now on a mission for another table to makeover!
